Electrocardiogram (ECG)
An Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a graphical representation of the electrical activity of the heart. The electrical activity is related to impulses that travel through the heart that determine the heart’s rate and rhythm.
How is the test performed?
Electrodes (sticky patches) are placed on the chest, arms and legs. Small wires connected to these electrodes lead to a machine that records a tracing from the heart rhythm. When the test is completed the electrodes are easily removed, much like small band-aids.
Who will carry out the test?
The Clinical Physiologist will perform the test.
How do I prepare for the test?
Wear loose clothing. Do not apply lotions, oils or powders to the chest area.

No

How long will the test take?
Approximately 15/20 minutes
